Autism Assessment
(in person in Prahran, Melbourne, or via telehealth anywhere in Australia)
-
An adult Autism assessment involves a number of components:
Gathering information from external sources. This would include having someone who knows you well complete a questionnaire to give some extra information and/or could also include providing school reports or info from your childhood (but it’s okay if you don’t have these!)
Completion of a number of self-report screening questionnaires which will be sent to you prior to your initial assessment appointment
3 hours (these can be split up depending on your attention and executive functioning needs) spent with a clinical psychologist (in person or via telehealth) to complete the assessment
Provision of a ‘feedback’ session with the assessing psychologist, including either a comprehensive assessment report (available 4-6 weeks after assessment) or diagnostic letter (available 2 weeks after assessment) regarding the outcome of the assessment, as well as recommendations. This is an opportunity for us to discuss the findings with you in detail and for you to ask any questions you may have.
If you have issues with sensory sensitivities in particular environments or have trouble concentrating, we can make modifications to the assessment process to help you feel more comfortable. Let us know what you need, or if you’re not sure what the options are, we can arrange to discuss them with you before your assessment.
-
Option 1: Comprehensive autism assessment with full report.
The fee for this service is $1700.Option 2: Comprehensive autism assessment with diagnostic letter only.
We offer this option as a way to keep costs down for individuals who are wishing to explore their neurotype but don’t require a comprehensive report.
The fee for this service is $1250.Medicare.
A medicare rebate (item 82000) is available only for assessments for people under 25 years old. The medicare rebate is $113.65 and can be used up to 4 times. We will process your rebate on the day of your session; Medicare typically deposits the rebate in your nominated bank account within two working days. Please be aware that if you have been referred under an item 82000, Medicare regulations state that the referring GP or Psychiatrist must receive documentation relating to the outcome of the assessment. -
